Genica Bucao on Feminism and Collective Care

Genica Bucao of Forging Intersectional Feminist Futures talks about the complexities of intersectional feminism, what that term means in general, and how it applies to the Philippines in particular. We also explore the notions of privilege, responsibility, and community care, and how they shape our relationships and interactions with others.

About the Guest

Genica Bucao aims to co-create communities of care so we can count on each other amidst conflict, crisis, complexity, complicity, and collapse. Currently, she does this by co-leading the process of designing a rapid response ecosystem within the Philippine network of Forging Intersectional Feminist Futures. She’s also exploring this in Care Garden, where she’s attempting to grow a process that will help people design care systems for themselves and their loved ones while being mindful not to harm human and more-than-human kin outside their immediate circles.
