MyEO NextGen Manila 2015 + 2016

“How can I reinforce learning through visual communication?”

Client: MyEO NextGen Manila
Scope: Learning Materials, Collateral Design, Live Visual Summaries

Challenge

MyEO Nextgen Manila aimed to engage and develop young entrepreneurs.

During the five-day summer camp, kids and teens formed small teams to tackle a business challenge. Along the way, they engaged in a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, inspirational talks, and learning sessions that developed teamwork, entrepreneurial mindsets and personal leadership skills. For the first year, they developed and pitched business ideas promoting Intramuros, Manila. For the second year, teams developed and set up their own food stall concepts at the Legaspi Sunday Market.

Pushpin Visual Solutions was brought on board by the facilitators, Management Strategies Asia, to collaborate on the program design and collaterals. The objective was to support learning outcomes; while activities were designed to be engaging and fun, we needed to help ensure that campers do not lose sight of key insights and concepts.

Solution

Pushpin designed a full suite of collaterals to support the event.

This included the visual identity of the event itself, collaterals, presentation materials, workbooks, and live, on-site visualization work.

The visual identity aimed to create a youthful, energetic personality for the event, and featured a set of visual icons that represented two ideas–the concepts that they will learn, and activities that they will engage in across the five days. These were then applied to the electronic brochures and invites, website, shirts, presentation materials, and workbooks. Campers and their parents were not made privy to the itinerary prior to the event, but the icons served to tease what is in store for them. Campers would later have moments of recognition once they connect the images with the activities and concepts themselves. It helped reinforce as well learnings introduced during camp.

In addition to the collaterals, Pushpin also provided live, on-site visualization work. We created hand-drawn visual summaries of invited speakers’ key insights, which were then reproduced and placed in the rooms of the campers as part of a surprise kit they received at the end of each day.

So that campers could focus on the business development aspects of their five-day challenges, illustrators from Pushpin made themselves available on Day 4 as visual consultants, to help with design decisions like logo, booth styling, prorotypes, mock-ups, pitch decks, as needed.
